Trek completed :-)

Sore feet, aching legs and big proud smile! Hope I’ve raised a pile of money for the British Lung Foundation and will continue to do so... please dig deep and donate!

Trek Day 7… Final day!

Last day trekking the Great Wall, wearing my British Lung Foundation T-Shirt with pride, showing all the tourists who I’m fundraising for! Not even the Beijing infamous smog can detract from the immense sense of achievement :-)

Trek Day 6… Market day in Mutianyu

Very challenging trek just to reach the Great Wall today! However, hard work makes you appreciate this ‘Wonder of the World’ even more and with a spectacular view like this as the ultimate reward… Luckily a timely souvenir shop lightens my wallet ;-)

Trek Day 5… Fabulous views from Mutianyu

Todays trek to Mutianyu was packed full with fantastic, rewarding (after 6 hours) and breathtaking (not from all the physical exercise) views. Staying for the sunset was well worth waiting in the cold for. My photography doesn’t do it justice!

Trek Day 4… Military posts, many steps and ‘off-walling’ from Gubeiko

Another long days trekking… this time with hardly a person around, a few military posts, lots more steps and some more ‘off-walling’ - another very rewarding and exhausting day on and off the Great Wall.

Trek Day 3… Around Jinshanlin with brief rest at ‘the Bus Stop’

Trekking across farmland and along the wall to ‘the Bus Stop’ for a little rest before even more walking - waiting / hoping for the sun to break through… and finally a little bus ride to overnight accommodation for a well-deserved long sleep.

Trek Day 2… Up ‘Heavens Ladder’ to a mountain village

A hard but rewarding FULL days trek up the infamous ‘Heavens Ladder’ and also some off-walling ;-) …remote, rural and very rustic China with a blazing campfire and 'cosy' communal sleeping arrangements!

My target...

I'm aiming to raise at least £2,000 to help the British Lung Foundation support people affected by respiratory disease, this amount could fund...
  • the BLF to purchase 2 lung testing machines and equipment, or
  • a BLF Nurse to test people’s lungs at a over 12 awareness one-day events, or
  • a BLF Nurse to provide specialist advice for over 26 days, or
  • the testing and finding 40 sufferers of the missing millions of people with undiagnosed COPD, or
  • the BLF to give one-to-one advice for the parents of up to 100 children suffering with a lung condition, or
  • a BLF Counsellor to provide over 130 hours support for people affected by lung disease, or
  • the BLF Helpline to answer up to 200 calls from people who desperately needs advice and information, or
  • a combination of these, or indeed,
  • the many other fantastic things that the BLF does!
Above all, this money will help make a difference!

Your donation...

Will contribute to making a difference...
